Food is the basic necessity of life. For thousands of years, food was grown and eaten from organic earth. As the human civilization progressed and population multiplied, addition of preservatives such as salts and chemicals to store, enhance flavor and food coloring has become common. Generally, it enhances the appeal and acceptance of the food and food products. Unfortunately, inferior quality substances that are poisonous or injurious to health are being added and this is called ‘adulteration’.
For example, to enhance the color of Turmeric and for economic gains, Turmeric is mixed up with a cheap cancer causing chemical called Metanil yellow. Imagine taking turmeric to treat inflammation and cancer, instead, ingesting Metanil Yellow. It is scary and outrageous!
